Getting started

LEJA app is a cash management and bookkeeping mobile application that helps small and micro businesses take charge of their finances. You can send money to other MPesa users, pay bills, buy MPesa float at affordable transaction rates, and buy airtime.

At the moment, LEJA operates in Kenya.

In Kenya, our services are available to Safaricom users. We hope to expand our coverage soon.

  2. Search for “LEJA app”
  3. Click 'update'

Leja app is managed by Leja Limited, a licensed and legitimate entity authorized by the Office of Data Protection as both a Data Processor and Data Controller. This means Leja is permitted to collect and use customer data securely and responsibly, in accordance with Kenya's Data Protection Act (2019). By registering on the Leja App, you consent to Leja's use of your data for account management, service delivery, and marketing, with all processes adhering to legal guidelines. Customers have the right to access, rectify, or erase their data, ensuring full compliance with data protection regulations.

Sign Up

  1. Download the “LEJA app” from Google Play Store
  2. Open the LEJA application
  3. Click “Next” to go through the first three introductory steps
  4. Choose whether you have used Leja before? You can either choose yes I have, or No I have not.
  5. Enter your phone number in the format “712 345 678”
  6. Wait for your phone to automatically detect a One-Time-PIN
  7. Enter your first and last name, national ID number, and email address
  8. Input referral code if you have one
  9. Create a 4-digit PIN to secure your account
  10. Confirm the PIN by re-entering the same PIN
  11. Use the PIN created to log in to your LEJA account

This means you have used LEJA or Okolea before, and you already have an account with all your transactions. Click “Log in” to access your account.

This means you entered the phone number in the wrong format: Make sure it is 9 digits as in “712 345 678” if your full number is 0712 345 678.

This means you did not receive an SMS with a 6-digit code within 90 seconds.

  • Click “RESEND CODE” to request another one.
  • DO NOT SHARE THE CODE WITH ANYONE.

This means the email address you are using to register is already linked to another account. Please try another one or log in.

Log In

  1. Enter phone number
  2. Wait for LEJA to detect a 6-digit code sent by SMS to your number DO NOT SHARE THE CODE WITH ANYONE.
  3. Enter PIN or,
  4. Click Forgot PIN if you do not remember your PIN
  5. For the first download enter the referral code and ensure the code is correct ie. It does not have special characters

  1. Entering a wrong phone number
  2. Unregistered number; one that does not have a LEJA account
  3. When the phone number entered is incomplete it should be 10 digits
  4. When the phone number has special characters except for numbers 0-9
  5. Change of device or when the entered phone number is not in the device you are trying to log in from
  6. Entering a wrong PIN
  7. Wrong format PIN - it should be numbered 0-9
  8. Incomplete PIN - it should be four digits

  1. Click on ‘Forgot PIN’
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Select Reset PIN via OTP sent to email method
  4. Click Continue,
  5. An auto-read OTP will be sent first to your phone number
  6. Check your registered email for the primary OTP shared
  7. Then, manually input the OTP on shown screen within the Leja app
  8. Set a new PIN with LEJA
  9. Confirm new PIN
  10. Login with a newly created PIN

  • Click on ‘Forgot PIN’
  • Enter your email address
  • Select the method to reset your PIN. Reset using the email link
  • Click Continue
  • Open the email app
  • Click on the link, User is asked how to open the link. Select LEJA app
  • Set a new PIN with LEJA
  • Confirm new PIN
  • Login with the newly created PIN

This means the email address you are using to register is already linked to another account. Please try another one or log in.
